Welwyn’s Brocket Hall was the setting for reception hosted by Lord and Lady Salisbury to launch the Welwyn Garden City Centenary. The anniversary in 2020 will celebrate the pioneering ideas of town planning and healthy living that were key to its creation.
The event revealed 14 signature events planned, including the creation of a Centenary Garden which will debut in the main avenue at RHS Chelsea in 2020, a festival of music and performing arts, a ‘centenary sport for all’ event, a carnival and an international planning symposium.
A charity, the foundation has been set up to coordinate events and to raise more than £1m for the project.
